Welcome to the Big Ten, Nebraska

June 13, 2010

It finally happened.  Big Ten expansion.  The first team to come over was Nebraska from the Big 12.  So now the Big Ten will have 12 teams in it, effective July 1, 2011.  This expansion has been talked about for a while now, but it also brings up a whole lot of questions.

Bulls hire Thibodeau

June 6, 2010

Boston Celtics assistant coach Tom Thibodeau was made an offer and he didn’t refuse.  I mean why would you refuse a 3 year deal worth $6.5 million to coach a team that has a core group of players that aren’t just talented but also young, a young point guard who’s one of the most dynamic and exciting players in the NBA and a team that has enough cap space to make a huge splash in the free agency bonanza this summer.

So of course Thibodeau couldn’t sign fast enough. The question is why the hell did the Bulls choose him?

Ramirez to the Minors?

May 31, 2010

Today is the last day of May.  The Cubs season has been going on for 2 months.  They are 4 games under .500 and 6 games back of first place in their division.  The main reasons are a lack of offense and a shitty bullpen.  The bullpen is in another shake up at the moment so we shall see if that works out but how do the Cubs fix the offense?

Simple, get Aramis Ramirez fixed.  No, not neutered, I meant fix him so that he starts hitting.  How do you do that?  Send him for a rehab stint to the minors?

Mark Schlereth Can Kiss My Ass

May 20, 2010

Brian Urlacher didn’t take kindly to Gale Sayer’s comments about the Bears.  He responded in kind.  Each of them were pretty accurate in their assessments.  Sayer’s pointed out some harsh truths that were pretty accurate.  Urlacher pointed out that the Bears were hearing those criticisms from a lot of people and he felt that a former Bear should be more supportive in the public eye.  I get it.  It’s cool, it’s not a big deal.

And then ESPN showed up…

I Don’t Want LeBron In Chicago

May 20, 2010

Now that LeBron James has been bounced from the playoffs, the speculation has begun.  And the a lot of the speculation has LeBron heading to Chicago.  This was first talked about months ago and this blog commented on it months ago when the rumors first started flying. Kyle’s post described why it doesn’t make sense for James to come to Chicago and I agree with him on many of his points.  That post generated a lot of chatter/debate so today I’m here to one-up-it.

Today I’m going to argue why I wouldn’t even want LeBron James to come to Chicago.

Chicago is not “Hawkey Town”!

May 17, 2010

First let me state that the term “Hawkey Town” is absolutely moronic and I hate it.  In fact, I hate myself more than usual because I just used it.  Clever word play Moronic phrases aside, my point is that Chicago is not all of a sudden a hockey city.  It’s a football/baseball city and only seems like a hockey city right now due to the fact that the Blackhawks are doing so well.

I’ve thought this for a while but after having conversations this weekend with certain “fans” of the Hawks, I am positive I am correct.

Lou Piniella has anger issues?! I’m shocked!

May 16, 2010

The headline of this post was sarcasm.  Duhhhhhhh!  After losing another game to the Pirates, Lou went on a rant about how the Cubs just need to start winning.  This isn’t the first time he’s made some gesture that shows his frustration with a flailing Cubs team.  In the past it was worked as motivation for the team to play better and at times it has worked.

The day after said rant the Cubs had a comeback win against the Pirates.  I guess Lou knew what he was doing.
